Basic Vegan Blender Hot Cocoa
A delicious vegan hot cocoa made in under 5 minutes! This cozy drink is made in the blender using 4 basic ingredients. Just cocoa powder, cashews, dates and water! Add a pinch of salt and a dash of vanilla to take it to the next level.
- 3 cups hot water
- 1/4 cup cashews, raw or dry roasted (unsalted)
- 1 1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 2-3 Medjool dates, pitted (or other sweetener of choice)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Small pinch of salt
Boil your water using a kettle or saucepan.
Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender, including the hot water. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. There shouldn't be any noticeable pieces of dates or cashews.
Serve immediately. Enjoy!
I used a Vitamix to make this recipe. This blender was strong enough to blend cashews without soaking them in advance. If your blender is on the weaker side, you may want to soak your cashews overnight. You could also strain the drink using a fine mesh sieve to remove any pieces left. This shouldn't be an issue if you have a strong blender.
Don't like dates? Use maple syrup or honey to taste!
You can also add more cocoa powder for a stronger hot cocoa.
